Communication Model which normally refer to communication cycle was first introduced by Wilbur Schramm. This model was also named after the founder of communications studies, Wilbur Schramm. He is believed to have introduced the career after World War 2 when the United States of America started to expand universities.

Communication model is not only a theoretical concept, however a daily and practical phenomenon that people need to understand before engaging into any communications/ conversation.

Wilbur Schramm Model, consist of:

Sending

Encoding

Channel

Message

Decoding

Receiving

Feedback

Failing to understand the concept may lead to conflicts and misunderstanding among people. Effective communication is a result of understanding of Wilbur Schramm Model/ Communication Model.

Conflicts and ineffective communication is mostly common in political organisations. Could it be possible that conflicts in political organisation are a result of lack of effective communication? How far can communication act as conflict resolution mechanism? how does conflict and communication relate?

The next "posts/Issue" will illustrate more on the highlighted concepts.

reat quick overview of the communication cycle – Wilbur Schramm's model (with the classic stages: sending → encoding → channel → message → decoding → receiving → feedback) is still a solid foundation for understanding why miscommunication happens so often. The loop of feedback is key; without it, messages get lost or twisted, leading to exactly the misunderstandings and conflicts you mention.

In political organisations especially, poor encoding/decoding or ignoring feedback often fuels disputes – politicians talk past each other, media channels distort, and there's rarely real listening. Effective communication (clear, two-way, with good feedback) can definitely act as a conflict resolution tool, but it requires willingness from all sides.

Looking forward to your next post diving deeper into conflict…
